Summer course in BUDAPEST 2011

Classical Ballet LM AB arranged its first summer course in Budapest in 1993. At that time the aim was to develop the classical technique of both classical and modern dancers. With this in mind, our subjects at that time consisted of classical ballet, repertoire, pas de deux and lastly, folk dance, the latter as a way of practicing different styles.
Today's dance scene is different: directors look for an all-round dancer who is equally at home in all dance styles and techniques. We have therefore adjusted our program to reflect these new demands. The aim of our present summer course is to achieve, during the period of only a few weeks, an intensive course of learning that is carefully planned so that each day builds upon the knowledge acquired the previous day.In our scheduling we take into consideration each individual dancer's level of knowledge in both classical ballet and modern dance. We use many different forms of physical training to achieve the stated aims of our course. Among them are included Alexander Technique, Pilates, gyrotonics, floor exercises, body conditioning and stretching. Our course isconceived to develop gradually and logically. The different subjects are scheduled so that they complement and support one another and therefore give the dancer every chance to achieve the best result. Most other dance courses offer a fixed course plan and schedule, with the possibility of some division according to levels of ability and also according to the individual dancer's choice of certain subjects.
With our course it is different:All those taking part receive an individual timetable in which each class is compulsory. This is in order to achieve the stated aims of fast learning and carefully planned development. To work in this way, teachers with long experience are needed. It is our policy therefore to engage teachers with much experience and proven results instead of inexperienced current stars of the dance world. All our teachers have, of course, a long stage career behind them in addition to their teaching experience. Even the activities outside the studio are planned so that they offer real artistic experiences to inspire the young aspiring artists in their daily work. For example, we book tickets for dance performances, concerts, trips in and around Budapest and other parts of Hungary. Those taking part live in a very nice hotel, with comfortable rooms. The public parts of the hotel and a lovely garden give wonderful opportunities for the dancers to share their excitement, to change thoghts of profession and experiences with one another. Our teachers are constantly in contact with the dancers during the three weeks and can always be counted on to offer their help and support. After 25 years of experience as ballet teacher and after 15 years as an organiser of summer courses, I have come to the conclusion that this concept works extremely well, a fact borne out by our results.
